Frequently asked questions

What issues or challenges can this help with?

The biggest benefit of somatic breathwork is that it reduces stress, which is now considered a chronic illness and is shown to have a negative impact on other illnesses. It also helps heal and restore the body, reduces anxiety & depression, helps with PTSD, heart health, respiratory health over time. Somatic breathwork has been shown to aid in helping people stay grounded and present which aids in mental and emotional stability.

What makes your session different from others?

Ericka is an energy healer so when she works with her clients, she is always working with their individual energy matrix to strengthen the results and outcomes. She also adds a focus point via a guided meditation at the start of the breathwork session which sets a tone of breathing with purpose rather than just breathing to breathe.  She leads her sessions in a way that teaches her clients so that they truly understand how to breathe and adopt good habits for life.

Are there any adverse effects to somatic breathwork?

Sometimes clients may experience lightheadedness or dizziness or have muscle spasms.  These are very rare and not the norm.  These may occur because you're learning to breathe in a new way.  Normally, we breathe in a very shallow manner so when we are asked to breathe deeply and fully or to empty our lungs fully it is different for the body.  Sometimes there are emotional releases and crying or shaking.  This is okay and we are in a safe space for everyone to be themselves.  Ericka asks for everyone to be on camera during the sessions with the phone placed so she can see the rise and fall of the chest and abdominal areas to monitor the breathing.  Sometimes a client will fall asleep or feel like they are floating, that is normal and okay.  She advises that if the breathing doesn't feel comfortable at anytime to stop and take a break; if it helps, drink some water.  Listen to your body.

What if I can't make the zoom call?

We encourage you to join the zoom calls to get the front row seat experience, where you get to interact and ask questions. However, if you can't attend any of the calls, the recording will serve you just as well as the group experience will be enriching and effective. You can also send email to Ericka for additional support.

What are the zoom meeting dates and time?

Package A Breathwork sessions will be hosted on Wednesday 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 and 4/29. It will be an hour long. 11am EST to 12pm EST.

Package B and C Awareness and Mindfulness sessions will be on Thursday 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23 and 4/30. Ericka is trying to see if 6pm EST to 7 pm EST or 7pm EST to 8pm EST will work best for most folks.
